2024 Olympic Qualifier: Banyana boss anticipates tough contest against Super Falcons

Banyana Banyana of South Africa head coach, Desiree Ellis says they must be at their best to overcome Nigeria in the 2024 Olympic Games qualifier.

The reigning African champions will face the Super Falcons in a two-legged final qualifying round tie next month.

The overall winners will compete in Group C at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Banyana Banyana started preparations for the qualifiers on Tuesday.

Ellis reckoned beating a quality Super Falcons side will be a tough task.

“We still have a couple of days before the final squad announcement, so I have to make sure that I get the combinations right,” she told the SAFA official website.

“I have to make absolutely sure because it won’t be an easy game against Nigeria. They have shown their quality over a period of time and they are still a quality team, so we have to be at our absolute best.

“We have to make sure that we get the combinations right as well as the mix of youth and experience right.”

The first leg will hold at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, on Friday, April 5.

Both teams will clash in the reverse fixture in Pretoria four days later.
