“The journalist is a liar” – Guardiola denies calling Alexis Sanchez over City move

Pep Guardiola has denied calling Alexis Sanchez, in a bid to lure the Arsenal forward into joining him at Manchester City.

The Spaniard also called the journalist who broke the news from Chilean publication, El Mercurio, “a liar”.

“The journalist is a liar. He’s a liar,” Guardiola responded in his pre-match press-conference on Monday.

Sanchez played under Guardiola at Barcelona and according to the story, Guardiola has phoned him twice abouta possible reunion.He has been in great form for the Gunners this season and scored a hat-trick last weekend, as they hammered West Ham 5-1 at the Olympic Stadium.

His current deal expires in 2018 and he is currently in talks with Arsenal over a bumper new deal.
