Kaduna Government gives land owners 90-day ultimatum to develop or forfeit

Kaduna State government, Tuesday, issued a 90-day ultimatum to land owners, charging them to develop their abandoned plots or get them revoked.
The government gave the ultimatum through the Director General of Kaduna State Geographic Information Service, KADGIS, Hussaini Ibrahim, in a statement made available to newsmen in the state.

The development would affect only those who have abandoned and undeveloped property that are within areas serviced by basic and primary infrastructure in the metropolitan centres in the State.

Ibrahim added that such abandoned property constituted security and environmental risks to the people of the state.

According to him, “The State government is implementing a vigorous urban upgrade programme, intended to improve the living standards of residents, make the cities of Kaduna, Kafanchan and Zaria more orderly and enhance security.

“All undeveloped carve-out plots stand revoked. Revocation notices have been duly issued and served to all allottees. This notice further serves as a legal notice of the revocation.

“All owners of undeveloped plots allocated within the last three years in the areas serviced with basic infrastructure are advised to commence development and show appreciable work within 90 days, failing which their titles will be revoked.

“All owners of undeveloped plots that have been allocated within a period exceeding three years in the area serviced with basic infrastructure are advised to commence development and show appreciable work within 60 days, failing which their titles will be revoked.

“All owners of uncompleted buildings are advised to return to site and show appreciable progress in their development within 60 days, failing which their titles will be revoked,” the statement read.
