[We both laughed over it… She came straight to sit beside me, with her hand across my neck to my shoulder…..]

MARY: (Amidst broad smile) That’s why I love u, dear….. But please, never hide whatever u are passing through away from me again o…. When u refused to pick my calls, I had to pay your hospital an #unscheduled visit to see things for myself but I got myself disapointed when I met your absence….

MARY: Thank God for Dr Korede who shed light on everything for me….

DR SANYA: I am sorry honey…. I allowed d situation to get the better part of me…. You remain my #strenght, so I should have carried u along…. Forgive me!

DR SANYA: Baby, it’s not my decision to make…. The family came to the hospital this evening… Initially, I thought they came for d body, until they told me they needed their son’s #autopsy report and death certificate….. Since they now have those papers, the ball is in their court.

MARY: I see…. But who could have killed him?

DR SANYA: That’s exactly d question I am determined to find answer to, not minding what it will cost me….

MARY: Really?

DR SANYA: Yes, of course…. Didn’t Dr Korede tell u who I said d man was to me?

MARY: He told me everything…., but just be careful. In a situation like this, u never can trust anybody….

DR SANYA: Exactly! By tomorrow morning, the deceased’s wife with a man she called her brother will be coming to d hospital tomorrow to question one of my nurses on her relationship with d deceased while he was alive….

[ Mary appeared slightly amazed]

MARY: What! Who among them?

DR SANYA: My most senior nurse of course, nurse Gbemisola

MARY: But wait a minute dear, what has her relationship with d deceased while he was alive got to do with his death?

DR SANYA: The detail of d whole thing is still sketchy for now. I’m sure by tomorrow, everything will be clearer!

MARY: Na wa oh….But the nurse Gbemisola I know doesn’t look like someone who can hurt a fly, not to talk of a fellow human being….

DR SANYA: Nobody is accusing her yet of having a hand in d man’s death….. But from her #body_language when she saw d family members, I suspect her, she must definitely have a lot to explain come tomorrow

MARY: What if d wife decides to come with police tomorrow?

DR SANYA: It’s okay…. I am not going to stand in the way of their investigation. I am equally interested in knowing d brain behind d painful death of my dear friend……

[ My phone suddenly started ringing, it was a call from my #dad …. I picked d call immediately]

DR SANYA: Hello dad…. Good evening, sir

DAD: How are u doing, my boy?

DR SANYA: Your boy is fine, dad
.
DAD: How about your journey back to Ibadan, hope it wasn’t stressful?

DR SANYA: Not at all, dad. I should have called u since to tell u about my safe arrival but d situation I met here demanded full attention

DAD: I understand. That’s d nature of your job for u. It’s a thing of pride to be a life saver!….. Just don’t forget all that we discussed together, I need something positive from you soon

DR SANYA: No problem, I assure you that u won’t wait too long, dad
.
DAD: Thank u, boy. Enjoy d rest of your evening. Bye!

MARY: I guess that was your father

DR SANYA: Yap…. He wants to meet you

MARY: And what is still stopping u from taking me to my #father_in_law to-be?

[ Mary burst into a broad laughter…..She was still on d laughter when my phone began to ring again…… Checking for the caller’s identity, it was an unstored number…..I picked d call:

DR SANYA: Hello…. Please, who am I speaking with?

MRS YUSUF: It’s me, the wife-to-be of d deceased man in your hospital….

[ Whaooo….. So, they haven’t #legally married…. But how did she get my number because I can’t remember exchanging digits with her…..]

DR SANYA: Oh madam, good evening.

[ I never wanted to ask her how she got my contact in order not to embarrass her….]

MRS YUSUF: I got your number from one of d nurses when we were leaving the other time. I just hope my call isn’t disturbing u in any way?

DR SANYA: Oh noo! I just hope u are okay…

MRS YUSUF: Yes, I am fine. I am calling just to express my appreciation to u for your co-operation so far.

DR SANYA: We are in this together…. The culprit must be brought to justice
