“Please, take care of her and if you won’t mind you, can I have your card so that we can come over to check on her.” I requested and Angel handed over her personal card and her residential card to me.
“I know we are not excluded and we are equally suspicious, but I want to clear your doubt that we are innocent.” Daniel concluded and he led the way out of the hospital.

“Daniel, I sense this is Leo’s doing.” I began.
“The culprits are unknown and I swear with my life, if the rapists happen to be Leo and his comrades, I won’t mind to go any length to get justice for that innocent girl.” Daniel boasted courageously with enragement and anger.

“What a pain! I was just imaging the pain that innocent girl is passing through now.” Daniel elucidated angrily as increased his pace.

“Some people are just heartless, they don’t even have conscience.” I expressed sadly.

“Ola, let stop this bus, else we are going to walk home.” Daniel concluded signaling to the speeding bus to stop.
We entered the bus and the bus sped off. Few minutes later we disembarked from the bus and we shambled home. Mama wasn’t at home as usual, so my food was in the kitchen. I meshed some spoonful of the delicious rice but I couldn’t eat much because I have lost my appetite instantly. I left the food in the kitchen and I walked to my room.

“Ola! Ola!!” Daniel called from outside and I reluctantly come out of my room.
“What are you doing indoor?” Daniel asked suspiciously.

“I was reading.” I lied faking a smile.
“Ehn! Ehn!! That remains me, Cynthia asked me to give you a letter.” I recalled and I hurried to my room only to come back with an enveloped letter.

“What does the letter entails?” Daniel asked doubtfully.

“Are you asking me?” I riposted indirectly.
“Let me just check.” Daniel concluded and he brought out the letter from the envelope and he read.

“Wow! Ola can you believe this is a love letter from Cynthia to me.” Daniel uttered with smile all over his face.
“Yes, I know.” I replied smiling.
“How do you know?” Daniel asked suspiciously.


“I just know.” I replied and Daniel hit me playfully.

“Do you love her?” I asked Daniel who was really overwhelmed with joy.
“Actually, I don’t really love her, I just like her but with time I will develop the love for her.” Daniel replied smiling.
“That’s nice my nigga.” I concluded as the light faded gradually.

NEXT DAY
LOCATION: C.H.S

“Good morning Daniel.” Cynthia greeted delightfully.
“Good morning my dear.” Daniel replied confidently.
“He gave you the letter, right?” Cynthia asked suspiciously.
“Sure and I am okay with it.” Daniel replied smiling.
“Wow, thank you my love.” Cynthia replied happily.

“Oh! It’s the bell for the assembly. Let hurry to the assembly before those idiots start chasing us with canes.” Daniel sensed and he walked out to the assembly group with Cynthia walking hand in hand with his girl.

The national anthem was chant and the pledge was recited. Mr. Chorus came forward and announce the ugly news, which left the mouth of most of the students in agape.
“An innocent girl was raped in the bus yesterday…” Mr. Chorus began but unfinished.

“Ah!” Most of the students exclaimed in disbelief.

“She was rescue from dying by a fellow student and we thank God she is now in the hospital receiving treatment.” Mr. Chorus continued looking at the tempted students.
“The school management will surely fish out those rapists and those culprits will surely face the wrath of the law.” Mr. Chorus elucidated and the students were murmuring.
“Quiet!” Mr. Anume yelled and the murmuring went dead.

“As I was saying, the culprits will definitely be catch and they will face the wrath of the law.” Mr. Chorus restated sadly.

“If any of you see any evidence or anything suspicious concerning the rape case. Please, kindly let the school authority know about it.” Mr. Chorus continued as he adjusted his medicated glass.

“Round off the assembly.” Mr. Chorus commanded the assembly prefects and the assembly was dismantled.

“Why is Princess not in school?” Cynthia asked puzzled directing her question to me.
“I heard that she traveled with her father to their village and it may take up to two weeks before she resume back to school.” Daniel lied restraining me from answering the question directed to me.

“Oh… or… is she the rape victim?” Cynthia asked facing me and I looked down dejectedly.
“No o, victim ke.” Daniel riposted faking a smile.

“Okay if you say so, but I am skeptical to you reply o.” Cynthia replied and she hit Daniel romantically.

The bell was jingled for the break time and student move out from their respective classroom to buy things and also play.
“Daniel, let go out and play.” Cynthia suggested and she dragged Daniel out of the class seductively.

I remained in the class thinking of Princess who was in the hospital as a result of the brutal rape by unknown rapists.

Shortly, a faint voice called my name and I turned to look at the caller, behold it was Rose, she waved at me and she vanished out of my sight.

Shortly, the bell for break over was ringed and students returned back into their respective classroom in crowd and solitary.
“Daniel, you’re such a darling.” Cynthia commented and she touched Daniel’s cheeks lovingly.

“It is my pleasure Cynthia, but all this must help our academic works and it must not disturb it o.” Daniel concluded merrily.
“The brave one.” Cynthia tagged as she hit Daniel playfully.

“Why is Princess not in school? Was she the raped victim?” Bisola asked me serenely but I only looked here dejectedly, leaving her astonished.

“It seems you don’t have anything to do, busy body.” I concluded and Bisola walked left my sit angrily.

“Idiot!” I commented serenely.
