” I will come some other time to talk about Paul, today does not seem like a good day for that” she said wiping her tears and running outside.

Musonda looked at her surprised, “Maria? What happened did they hurt you?” he asked upset.


” Tell me he didn’t touch you before I break his face” he snapped opening the door to go inside
the house.

“No stop ! Musonda please. No one hurt me. Am okey please” she said holding his hand.
“Get me out of here, please take me away” she held him and spoke in a low tone.
“Are you sure? You look terrible, ” Musonda answered furious seeing her so much hurt and in
tears.

He drove the vehicle in silence as Maria sobbed. Her eyes out the window the blowing winds
touching her wet face as she let the tears fall freely.

Musonda tried to talk to her but she indicated for him to move forward.
He looked at her and wondered what had transpired back there. He had never seen her so sad
and he knew it was not the right time to talk about whatever it was.

For hours they drove in silence and with every mile they covered, Maria felt more torn apart like
the distance was taking away part of her.
