Movie Story: Jemeji - Season 1 - Episode 70

Oviyon is in the village square digging the grave.

Folake looks outside the window at the lodge and sees someone.
She asks Obi about the person and he tells her it's Senami's Kingsley.
Folake says she imagined someone different when she heard about Kingsley; Senami should have involved her.
Obi asks if she would have gotten her own share if Senami involved her.
She asks if it's a problem.
He doesn't respond.



Folake asks why Senami wants to bury her grandmother in the village square.
He asks if they are saying their goodbyes now or they will see again before she leaves Aji.
Before she responds he tells her to come to the funeral and it will be a good reason for him to also attend.

Senami joins them.
Folake asks if the person she saw was Kingsley.
Senami says he came to find out what he can do to help.

Folake asks who the other guy was.
Senami says he's her father.
Obi asks if she didn't want him to come in.
Senami doesn't answer. She opens the bowl in Obi's hand and it contains Akara.
She asks where it came from.



Iya Oviyon is frying Akara in front of her house and calling on neighbours to come and eat for free.

She gives Oviyon to eat and he asks if she put crayfish in it.
He says the last time she put crayfish in Akara was when...
He doesn't complete his statement as realisation dawns on him.
He asks if she's celebrating because Iya Minasu is dead.
She asks if she won't celebrate her enemy's death.
She says she even sent Senami's share of Akara to her; the people who killed all her children, she told them that they would not be able to kill Oviyon and now they are dead so she must celebrate.


Jonah accompanies Fonton to the clinic.
He sees the exent of the damage done and asks what happened.
Fonton tells him to just go to his Lagos and next time he wants to show he cares, he should send money.

Jonah leaves.

Fonton looks at the damage to the clinic and exclaims 'Ojiejiejiejiejie ojie!'
Some young men watch him as he starts sorting through the damage.
He asks if they won't help.
They ignore him.

The mysterious man who arrived the village the day before, strolls casually past Fonton, holding and staring at his phone like he's playing a game on it.
Fonton calls him a fat pig.
He ignores Fonton and carries on with his game.


Senami is with Oviyon at the village square, by the grave.
She thanks Oviyon for helping to dig the grave.
He asks if she really wants to bury her grandmother there.
Senami says she wants to.
He tells her that she wouldn't want to start another riot.

Doris and a man are the only other attendees.
Senami tells Kingsley that Doris hasn't said anything to her since the night of the riot, even though she was the one who cheated by giving extra blood that caused her to faint.

Senami's father shows up.
Senami introduces Oviyon by his full name, Oviyon Oyinbo.
Her father asks if he's the son of Oyinbo.
Oviyon says he was his father.
Senami's father asks if he was the one who dug the grave.
Oviyon says Senami means a lot to him.
Senami's father says if she really means a lot to him then he should convince her to follow him back to Lagos.



Oviyon's workers stroll through the village, gossiping about their boss.
One tells the other that Oviyon dug Iya Minasu's grave by himself, a witch's grave.

Neza Overhears them from his hut as they walk past.


Fonton is still lamenting as he sorts out the damage at the clinic.
Ojo and some men accost him.
Fonton tells Ojo that he doesn't want any trouble.
Ojo reminds him of the time he damaged his car and threatened to do things to him if he ever saw his legs in Aji again.


Petunia stops Peace on the road and grabs her.
Peace asks for her offense.
Petu asks if she can't insult her the way she did when Iya Oviyon was present.
Peace asks if she told any lie.
Petu slaps her and kicks her repeatedly.
Peace screams and clutches her stomach.


Fonton tries to run but Ojo and his men stop him.
He asks if they don't have any respect for their elders.
They say they don't have
The mysterious stranger strolls by again, still busy with his phone.

Some men of Aji come to Fonton's rescue. They attack Ojo and his boys, chasing them away.


Obi is with Otogan at the palace.
Otogan tells Obi to stop calling him Chief.
He asks what his plan is.
Obi says he wants to attend the funeral.
Otogan says Obi has to think of everyone and since people thought Iya Minasu was a witch, they have to be careful so it doesn't seem like they are on her side.
Obi looks confused.
Chief says it's Obi choice so he should decide what he thinks is best.


Neza enters Iya Minasu's hut.
He breaks into a poem.
'The witch is dead, the mysterious midwife is dead.
What's a king without his right hand man?
What's a king with blood on his hand and a curse on his head?'

Akweyon walks into the hut.
Neza panics and asks what she wants.
She doesn't respond.
He runs out when she moves closer to him.

When he gets outside, he begs to be allowed to rest as he doesn't want people to see him.
She gives him a look that let's him know his request is denied.
He sits outside the hut.


It's time for the burial.
Kingsley joins Senami, Oviyon and her father.
A host of villagers are behind them.

It's time to lower the corpse into the grave.
As they lift the body, Iya Oviyon runs to her son screaming.
She hits his hand away from the corpse.
She tells him that she won't allow him carry the corpse.

Senami's father walks away form the graveside, embarrassed.


Jonah is driving when he sees Peace walking along the road.
He stops to offer her a lift and she accepts.


Iya Oviyon tells Oviyon she won't allow him.
He tells her to stop.
She jumps inside the grave and starts rubbing sand all over her body.
She tells Oviyon to bury her instead.

Senami loses it. She says she doesn't care if Iya stands in the grave because her grandmother is getting buried whether she is inside or not.
She says Iya Oviyon fried Akara and sent to her and she even heard she was singing victory songs and she let it all slide but now she won't allow her bury her grandmother.

She throws sand at her.
Oviyon tells Senami to stop because that's his mother.
Senami says she doesn't care!
Oviyon drags his mother out of the grave and takes her home.

Kingsley consoles Senami.
Senami starts shouting at the top of her voice.
She says she's surprised that Mausi is missing the show; Mausi fed her grandmother in secret but called her a witch in public.
She tells the villagers that if they see Mausi, they should tell her that Osenami Minasu says hi.
