Movie Story: Jemeji - Season 1 - Episode 71

Jonah stops the car in front of Peace's house.
She looks in the back seat and sees fruits.
She asks if he came to Aji for fruits.
He says he came to check on his dad after the wahala.
She says it's usually wahala that brings people to Aji.
He says he likes Aji but doesn't usually have the time to come around.
He asks if she likes it in Aji.
She says she wanted to go to Lagos but it didn't work out.
He asks if she wanted to go and finish her schooling.
She laughs and says who has time for school?
He tells her a good job in Lagos requires a sound education except she wants to do business.
She thanks him and gets out of the car.

Oviyon is dragging his mother home.
She struggles to pull away from him.
His grip is too tight so she sits on the ground in protest.
He turns to leave but she tells him he can't go anywhere; she won't let him return to the burial and she needs to take him for spiritual cleansing for digging a witch's grave.
He asks if she's not tired or all her nonsense.

The men of Aji flog Ojo and his men and tell them to do fog jump and squats.

Fonton and Petunia watch them.
Fonton takes the cane and flogs them a little then tells the boys to let them go.
Ojo and his boys run off.

Petunia asks the boys who helped Fonton, what they would want her to do for them.
She offers to give them food.
Fonton tries to stop her from making such an offer.
She ignores him.

In the evening, Senami is all alone by the grave.
Her father comes to meet her.
He tells her not to aggravate the villagers with all she was saying about Mausi.
She asks if he's afraid of Mausi too.
He says it doesn't matter as they are leaving the village.
She says he's just like the villagers; he might have left Aji but Aji clearly hasn't left him.

Folake is at the Corpers' lodge, talking on the phone talking about the wahala in the village.

Obi walks in and asks what she's still doing in Aji.
She says she decided to stay back and help Senami with the funeral.
He asks if she's not leaving Aji yet.
She asks what his business is.

Senami comes out of the room and says Obi wasn't at the funeral.
He says Chief didn't allow him to come.

She looks at Folake.
Folake says she's been through a lot in the village and didn't want to be a target.
Senami asks if it's good for her to be the target.
Folake says it was Senami's choice as she was the one who decided to bury her grandmother in the village square.

Fonton and Petunia have are in a restaurant with the boys.
As they eat, the boys pledge their allegiance to Petunia and Fonton.
Fonton complains that he has reported Ojo and his men to Otogan several times but Chief didn't take any action.
Petunia says Chief ought to pay the boys for doing the work of safeguarding the village.
The boys say chief hasn't even paid for a job they did for him a while back; he's scamming them in Aji.
One of the boys rushes in and tells them that Iya Minasu has been buried in the village square.
Fonton exclaims.

The mysterious Aji returnee happens to be in the restaurant, watching and listening.

Peace comes to Oviyon's house to meet him and his mother arguing.
Oviyon tells his mother that she can follow him if she wants to.
As he leaves the house, she is about to go to but Peace stops her.
Iya Oviyon says Oviyon dug the grave and she even heard he and the witch Senami spent the night together in the bush
Peace tells her to calm down.
Iya Oviyon says if it takes for her to get naked for the whole of Aji to see, to bring Oviyon to his senses, she will do it.

Oviyon comes to Neza's house but he doesn't find him.

He sees some of his workers and tries to shake hands with them but they ignore the hand.
He tells them to let him know when they see Neza.

He tries shaking hands with them again and they avoid his hand.
He asks what's going on.
They say he handled Iya Minasu's body.
He reminds them that they did too.
They ask if he has gone to Mausi for cleansing because they have done so and it will be good for him to also go.

Obi is back with Otogan.
He says Senami is upset with them because he and Folake didn't attend the burial.
Otogan is surprised that Folake also didn't attend.

Fonton and some villagers walk into the palace.

Fonton asks who Senami is, to desecrate their village and bury the body of an accredited witch in their village square.
Another man says it is an abomination and they can't just sit back and watch.

Later on, when the villagers are gone and Otogan is alone in the palace, Folake walks in.
She tells Otogan that she's the only daughter of her parents and if they find out she's still living in the Corpers' lodge after all that has happened, they will die of fear because of Senami provoking the villagers.
She asks if she can stay at the Palace as she knows the villagers can't harm anyone there.
Otogan stares at her.
She thanks him in advance but to her surprise, he says no.

Senami and her father are at the Corpers' Lodge.
Senami asks her father why his number was on her grandmother's phone.
He asks what Iya Minasu told her.
Senami says she didn't tell her anything.

He asks what he could have done when babies were dying, a young boy disappeared and she refused to defend herself when she was being accused.
Senami says he abandoned her.
He says Iya Minasu said if she told the truth, Aji would scatter.
Senami asks what it means.
He tells her to figure it out; he told his mother that he would leave and never look back and if she doesn't say anything, it would mean she's guilty but she remained silent.
Senami says there should be more to it than they know.
He begs her to come back to Lagos with him.

Oviyon comes into the lodge and sits beside Senami.
Senami leaves for her room and tells her father to give them some minutes to talk.
Oviyon stand up to go follow her but her father tells him to sit back down..
He asks what he does for a living..
Oviyon says he is a graphic artist and he's now running his farms in the village.
Senami's father asks why he follows Senami up and down.
Oviyon says he's taking care of her.
Senami's father asks if he shouldn't be taking care of his mother instead.

He gets a phone call and goes outside to answer it.

Oviyon goes into the room to meet Senami.
She asks how he is and he says he's okay.
She asks if he's sure with all the drama that happened.
He asks if she means when she tried to bury his mother.
She says when his mother disrespected her grandmother.
He admits his mother can be too much and he says Senami is really bold.
He hugs her.

Mr Minasu sits in his car.
He has Iya Minasu's phone in his hand and dials his own number.
He cries as he sees the saved contact 'My Mama' show up on his own phone screen.

In the middle of the night, someone whose face isn't revealed, is digging up Iya Minasu's grave to exhume her body.
