Haira POV

3 days later.
I coughed, he gave me a quick glance.
“Baby, how long? Let’s retire to bed, we are not getting any information” He removed his long sleeve shirt and wore it for me. He still had a white shirt on him.

“I am convinced she stays here” I said looking at the gloomy light that shines through the window of the gate man’s house.

For three consecutive days now, I and Ambrose sat in front of Eugene’s assumed home and wait to catch a glimpse of her. Ambrose is not in support of us sitting in front of a building and watching the cars as they moved in and out of the street.

It’s night fall already and i still sat there with him.

“What if they no longer stay here?” He said, I know he can’t wait to get us out of the cold night.

“So she left Sammy to the new occupants?” I asked and he bite his lower lip.
“But still, it’s useless sitting here and hoping that she would meet us here” he protested and I ignored.

“I have interest in this house, something is fishy”

“What if she’s dead?” He suddenly asked, I throw my head to the side giving him a fierce look.

“Sorry!” He apologised.

He might be right, what if she’s truly dead? Her husband married another woman? No! She can’t be dead, if she was dead I would have known about it, Her husband would have brought her corpse back to Nigeria and there’s no way i wouldn’t get to know.
I placed my head on Ambrose’s shoulder, shut my eyes and folded my arm. I was sleepy.
“Let’s go back to the hotel” he said standing upright. The hotel was three houses away. He took me by the hand and we dragged out legs on the road.

Only few steps away from the house, I heard a loud noise from Eugene’s house, I and Ambrose turned at once staring at the huge building that sat in the middle of the compound.

“Someone is in trouble” I whispered into Ambrose’s hearing.

We stood there trying to figure out what the problem was but everything died down, no noise, nothing.

“You are right, something is fishy. That loud noise is coming from a hurt person, cry of agony” Ambrose said taking my hand and walking me back to our hotel.

I had a hot shower once we returned to the hotel and I retired to bed without dinner. Ambrose pat me until he was sure I was somewhere in the dream land.
