I couldn’t ask her the question that I longed to as we engaged in small talks till we got to Banana Island. As she drove through the streets I wondered if we were still in Nigeria. I have always heard stories about Banana Island but what I heard was nothing compared to what I was seeing. The streets, the structures, the environment so looked like something I only saw in pictures.

I was still taking in the beauty of the environment I found myself when we stopped at a gate which started opening automatically ushering us into a compound and a structure that is better dreamt of than talked about.

Tessy’s car was already parked among some other exquisite machines. I wanted to hide the intimidation I felt but couldn’t hold it back when I stepped down from the car and a ‘wow’ escaped my mouth before I could hold it back.
“Come on.” Tolu said coming around, holding my hand leading on. At a corner of the large compound was a deep blue swimming pool with poolside seats surrounding it.
“Where is this?” I asked amazed.
“Let’s say it’s father’s house.” She said nonchalantly as we walked to the entrance.
“You didn’t tell me……..” I started when Tessy came through the door smiling naughtily.
“So you guys just got here? Did you go back home for something?” she teased winking.
“I wonder why your car is still intact,” Tolu replied ignoring her.
“And I wonder which driving school you went to. Your driving can bore to hell.” Tessy fired running back inside.
“Why running? Just wait for me.” Tolu said leading me inside, “And you, better loosen up, this is not heaven, just my house.” She said hitting my shoulder lightly.

I smiled coyly covering the embarrassment I felt. I haven’t stepped into a house as sophisticated as the one I just found myself in, my whole life.
“Make yourself comfy let me get you something to drink before we hit the gym.”

She said before shouting, “Tessy where is everybody?”

The words were barely out from her mouth when a beauty just like her clad in a tank top over a very short skaters skirt that hung over her bum came down the stairs with her ear phone plugged in her ears. Tolu stood at the foot of the stairs looking at the girl who obviously wasn’t aware that a visitor was with them.
“Sis good morning,” she shouted taking off the ear phone from her ears. Tolu had a naughty smile on her face which must have left the girl wondering before she looked and realized that someone was with them.
“Oh!! My” she shouted running back up the stairs while Tolu busted out laughing.
“She is crazy.” Tolu said to me before heading off to another direction. Tessy came out from the same direction to join me in the sitting room, she had something in her mouth.
“Tessy?” Tolu shouted from inside the room.
“Don’t worry, he is my brother.” Tessy shouted back laughing while I laughed trying to be comfortable.
“You are tensed Toby, relax ok.” Tessy said calmly to me.

I nodded reaching out for a mag on the side stool just then the girl that ran up the stairs appeared again still clad in the same outfit.

What use was her running back then? I asked myself.
“Hey!! I’m Hariet.” She said stretching her hand to me with a beautiful smile.
“Toby” I replied taking her hand with a smile.

Bending a bit which had her b0s0m almost as big as Tolus spilling out resting on my shoulder she whispered into my ear, “Are you our in-law?”

I laughed shyly while she joined me and just then Tolu came out from the place she’d entered. She stood looking at us while her sister ran off laughing. Before she could get to where I was, Hariet was already at the foot of the stairs laughing.
“Hariet?” She called out with a stern voice which made Tessy laugh out loud.
“I like our in-law already.” Hariet said laughing from where she stood.

Hariet left and later reappeared in her sports outfit. “Are you ok now.” She said giving Tolu a naughty smile. Tolu ignored her as we all made our way to the gym. I could hear music coming from the place we were headed to which was a sign that someone was already in the gym. As the glass door parted ushering us into the sophisticated gym, I saw another girl running on the trade mill. The loud music must have prevented her from hearing us walk in as she kept running not turning.

It was when Hariet danced to her front that she realized she had company and started slowing down till the trade mill stopped. As she turned with her sweaty face I stood shocked at the person standing before me. She must have recognized me as she stood shocked too, staring at me. I recovered first stretching out my hand with a “good morning.”
“Eeee…., goo.., good morning, welcome.” She stammered as the rest stared at us.
“You too know each other?” Tolu asked looking at me before turning to her sister. She shook her head at me before Tolu turned to her.
“No.” we both replied in unison.
“Bunmi meet Toby…”
“Our in-law” Hariet shouted behind Bunmi arousing laughter from Tessy who was walking towards another trade mill. Tolu shot Hariet a glance before she continued.
“Toby is my friend and Toby, Bunmi my elder sister.” She introduced.
“Nice to meet you Bunmi.” I said forcing a smile.
“The pleasure is mine.” Bunmi replied forcing a smile before she excused herself and walked away. As she exited, another girl a white apron walked in with a tray of wine.

Placing it on a table, she turned and left without a word.

Tolu definitely knew that something was wrong but reserved it as we started stretching after which we commenced full workout. How could Tolu’s sister be the girl that had slapped me that woeful morning? Surely, the world is a small place.

After the work out which I made sure to drill them till they got sore, they showered after which we all ate before we left. I didn’t meet Tolu’s parents as they weren’t in the country neither did I set my eyes again on Bunmi till we left.

As we drove home, we barely said a word to each other in the car. It was clear that Tolu had lots of things going on in her mind, which she wasn’t saying them, but decided to have her eyes straight on the road and looking out the glass intermittently, which worried me. When the silence became unbearable, I pulled out my phone and plugged in my earphone.

I was relaxed on the couch waiting for sleep to take over me after I warmed the soup and had a bath. While waiting on sleep, I was in thought of the new development between Tolu and I; if it was all a show off, but, to what end? What could she be thinking? Her sister? Though I’d forgotten about the incident but seeing her again and the look she had conveyed something deep; compassion and regret. She wasn’t someone I wished to see again after that incidence, but, how am I going to avoid her if she decides to reach out to me?

The whole incident had taken my mind off the questions I wanted to ask Tolu and as I sat alone, the thoughts came rushing back. The whole thought was mixed and confusing.

Another confusing thought was that I caught Tessy more than enough times stealing glances at me during the work out; always looking down on my crotch and each time she’d wink and give a naughty smile.

I was drifting off through a trance when I had a knock on my door. The knock had actually jolted me from the trance. Dragging myself off the couch, I walked lazily to the door feeling aches on my joints. Peeping through the peephole, I saw Tolu’s face before turning the lock. As I held the door open, behold her wrapped in a white towel which barely went round her bossom. She walked pass into the room without a word while I locked the door before following behind her.
“You need something?” I asked walking around to the couch while she stood facing the television her back turned to me.
“Yes, I need you.” She replied letting the towel fall before turning around.
