The next morning at the hospital.

Vanessa: (tapping Jayjay who was still sleeping) Jayjay wake up or you will be late for lectures.
Jayjay: (wakes up and start rubbing his eyes) is it morning already?
Vanessa: yes.

Jayjay: (yawns) my eyes are itching badly.
Vanessa: (smiles) i understand…(pats him on his shoulder) you stayed awake almost throughout the night.

They were still talking when the Nurse came in to do her routine check on Martha.

Nurse: good morning.
Jayjay: good morning Nurse….(he quietly watched the nurse until she was done with the check up)…Nurse how is she doing?

Nurse: still the same as yesterday, we will wait and see what happens this evening.
Jayjay: okay, thanks.

Nurse: young man, i advice you to go get some rest, you look stressed…(walks out)
Jayjay: thanks….(moves to Martha’s side) My Jewel, please wake up, i know you are hearing me, i beg you, please don’t do this to me, wake up please.

Vanessa: Jayjay the Nurse was right, go home and get rest or go to lectures and take your mind off all this for some time, so you will not fall ill.

Jayjay: no I can’t, i can’t leave her alone, she needs me by her side.

Vanessa: listen to me Jayjay, go and freshen up and come back later, how are you even going to face her mum looking so weak and dull.

Jayjay: you are right, her mum will soon be here.
Vanessa: good, go and freshen up and muster all the courage to face her mum.
Jayjay: thanks V, but how about you, won’t you go back to the hostel.
Vanessa: i will, when N-k returns, we will take turns watching over her.
Jayjay: (pecks Martha) V, i will leave now, but i will be back in no time, by the way Lor’d V will soon be here too.

Vanessa: (smiles) okay bye, take care.

Back at the black Rhino’s apartment.
Napoleon: guys, no going out today.
Scorpion: capon, we understand that those idiots will come for us, if them like make them come, we no dey fear anybody.

Napoleon: na for everybody good, no going out today, we will invite some girls and chill with them but till then lets all drink and calm our nerves.

Dino: capon no p, i will make the call.
Napoleon: okay Dion, guys remember we are lying low for just some time, next week we will strike again and this time we won’t miss our target.

Scorpion: who?
Napoleon: Jayjay.

Chinedu had just opened the shop, when Ifeoma came to meet him.

Ifeoma: my darling tutor, how are you this morning.
Chinedu: please am not in the mood this cold morning, just leave.

Ifeoma: ah ah, what did i do wrong again?
Chinedu: about yesterday, you did a bad job, my aunty knew what was going on between us.

Ifeoma: how did she know?
Chinedu: if you ask me, who i go ask.
Ifeoma: maybe thats why my dad is calling you.
Chinedu: your dad? Calling me? Am finished, women will not stop putting me in trouble.
Ifeoma: am sorry.
Chinedu: hey, keep your sorry to your self.

Jayjay had just gotten up from the bed after having a proper sleep, when he heard a knock on the door, he was alone, the other guys had all gone to lectures, he quickly took the gun which he normally kept under his bed and hid it behind him incase it was an intruder.
Jayjay: who’s there, am coming.
Lor’d V: Jay its me.
Jayjay: (opens the door) what a relief, i thought it was an unwanted visitor,
Lor’d V: (sees the gun) i see you are really prepared for the unwanted visitor.

Jayjay: (smiles) Capon welcome.
Lor’d V: thank you…(looks around) where are the other guys.
Jayjay: they’ve gone for lectures.
Lor’d V: hope they didn’t go unprotected.
Jayjay: no they didn’t…Capon sit, what should i get you.
Lor’d V: am okay, how is she now.
Jayjay: still in a critical condition.
Lor’d V: jay am really sorry about her condition.
Jayjay: you don’t have to be, its not your fault.
Lor’d V: who’s with her now.
Jayjay: your babe.
Lor’d V: thats not safe, those guys might attack again, get dressed lets go there.
Jayjay: yes capon, give me five minutes.
He quicly got dressed and they drove out, on their way they picked lots of flowers for Martha and went to an eatery and bought food and snacks for Nkechi and Vanessa. The ride to the hospital didn’t take long as they soon got there.
They got to the reception and saw Vanessa sitting with a lady probably in her late fourty’s or early fifty’s.
Immediately Vanessa saw them she left the lady and ran to hug Lor’d V.

Vanessa: Jayjay, Martha’s mum is already here.
Jayjay: where is she!
Vanessa: (points to the chair) she’s the one putting her head down there, she’s been crying since she saw Martha.
Jayjay: i caused all this, i will go and talk to her.
Vanessa: okay.
He left them and went over to Martha’s mum.
Jayjay: good afternoon ma.

Martha’s mum: (raises her head) afternoon.
Jayjay: (he was shocked with what he saw) what? mum?
Martha’s mum: what did you do to my daughter and why are you calling me mum?
Jayjay: mum, its me Onyemaechi.
Martha’s mum: onyi, onyi, onyi, onyi (she held her head and before Jayjay understood what was happening she slumped)
