Must Read: Life Of Uam Boy

How nice it was to have my friends back, without that monster called greed. I dont know if the level of trust would still be the same but it was worth a try.

“So the party go still hold be that na” i spoke.

“before nko? I don invite people already na” philip replied.

Well, since parties weren’t meant for people like musa, he just had to keep quiet while we planned the party.

“first of all, we gat go arrange drink for emeka place” philip suggested.

“Guy you the Bleep up, i know one better supermarket wey we fit arrange drinks. E dey for northbank market” musa chipped in.

“Wetin come be the difference na, emeka fit even reduce price for us plus we gat transport go northbank market” philip spoke.

“na only beer emeka the sell, that supermaket the sell other things”.

We didnt know what that has to do with the party but since it was an idea from musa himself, we just had to obey him. Hopefully, we will get to know the relationship by the time we visit the supermarket.

“vivan the bring her laptop, i don call joe, him go give us speakers then we go buy fuel put for gen” philip informed us.

The party looks like it was going to be a buzz, i was eagerly waiting for the party. Well, that was partly due to the fact that that would be my first adult party.

Dont get me wrong, i had been attending parties but it had been children birthday parties. The kind that is usually characterised with kids shouting “aunty you never give me biscuit”, those kinda birthdays that we usually wear our Christmas wears. If you didn’t have the upportunity to attend such parties then you literally skipped childhood.

This was going to be my chance to witness what others had been withnessing. Thank God for friends like philip. Maybe this was what my secondary school teacher used to always talk about when she takes a topic called uhm… Whats that stuff called again? Peer pressure, yeah peer pressure. But thats so 90s, we are now in the 21st century, we are supposed to be exploring the world or so i thought.

“guy this gbe go be ‘one in town o” i shouted.

“why you come the happy like say na you win mr.fresher na?” musa asked.

“How that one take concern you na? I asked mine.

“E no concern me sha but 30k no reach to host ‘one in town’ party o” he chipped in.

Good, he just just annouced that he was going to return the money thereby making our work easier.

“Oya, make una go bath make we dey go” philip commanded.

“Guy that your food nko, i dey hungry o”.

“i no finish am na, i go continue when we come back”
musa informed me.

Northbank market, like every other market in the surbub of makurdi was very busy. After trekking for some minutes, we finally came to the supermarket musa was talking about. It was so large, you’d be fairly correct if you call it a departmental store. Different sections for different goods, we located the drink section and started picking cheap wines.

“guy, this 30k go finish for only wine o” i informed them.

“we no go buy Plenty, the wine na just for VIPs, every other person go drink beer” philip informed me.

They kept shopping while i kept starring. One thing about supermarkets i dont like is the fixed price. You dont get the chance to bargain. That doesn’t augur well with peeps like me. I always like to use every little upportunity i have to practise my bargaining strenght.

After picking few wines, we went to the cashier who after punching his calculator, told us our price was #15,500.

Philip paid without stress and we left. I now know how it feels to be a richman.

“so wetin be the difference na? You just carry us come waste money” philip spoke to musa who was walking like a crippled dude.

He just smiled and brought out a wine from his pocket. I was suprised and angry at the same time.

“so you carry us come here to come steal #750 wine?” i asked irritatedly.

“750 ke, look the price na” musa said while handing the bottle to me.

I looked at the price tag and i saw #5000.
I couldn’t help beeing impressed.

With our drinks ready, we went home, bought some beers and hired speaker thanks to musa’s additional 5k.

The party was sure going to be my dream party.
