Must Read: Soul in Tears - Season 1 - Episode 10

Maame Adwoa was very exhausted when she got out of the task force office but because she had nothing on her, she had no choice than to sell her goods. She hawked the whole day but sold only two slippers. She cursed the task force workers before closing from work. Instead of feeling frustrated when she got home, the photo of her son on the wall gave her a new hope. A positive hope.

Kwadjo Boateng went through Clara’s quiz papers still not believing his eyes. The young lady wasn’t good academically but ever since they became friends, the young lady was doing well.

‘this is unbelievable. You are really catching up with your academics’ he was still scanning through the papers to make sure the lecturer didn’t make mistakes when marking their end of semester quiz.

‘are you saying I can’t get good grades or what?’ Clara asked with a frown

‘no no no, please don’t take this thing personal. I am only amazed at how you have improved yourself. It’s good but don’t forget that no matter how hard you try, you can never catch up with me’ Kwadjo said amusingly which got both of them laughing.

Kwadjo Boateng was very happy with the way things were going. In the beginning, he had doubts about the young lady but he was now convinced that she is the right person for him.

‘I hope you have agreed to go with me to my house before going to your house?’ Clara interrupted his thoughts.

‘yeah… Yes I.. I.. Its a must’ he stammered.

‘why are you stammering. Are you scared to know my home’… ‘I don’t think I said that’ he answered.

It was the end of their first semester in the university and through the ups and downs, they were able to make good grades to make their parents proud. Clara’s good performance had to do with Kwadjo Boateng. She knew how good the young man was when it came to academics but she wasn’t. She therefore worked harder to get to where was now. She did that for love. Love she sometimes think would never be possible.
Kwadjo Boateng packed a few things he would take home and met Clara in front of her hostel.

A few minutes later, a 4×4 Toyota high lander stopped in front of them. The driver got down and greeted Clara. He parked her things into the car and added Kwadjo’s also. The driver opened the backseat for them to enter. Kwadjo Boateng was confused in his mind. He had a lot of questions on his mind concerning the car but kept his silence. He felt very uncomfortable till they got to the Benson’s Villa. That was the inscription he saw in front of the gate. The beauty of the compound, took his breathe away.

They entered the hall and the young man still couldn’t find his voice. The Benson’s were seriously rich.

A woman who Kwadjo guessed to be Clara’s mother emerged from one of the rooms and ran to hug Clara. ‘honey, I am very sorry for not visiting you in school. You know my travelling’ she said and Clara rolled her eyes indicating that it was not something new to her.

‘mom, meet Kwadjo Boateng my course mate. Boateng meet my mother, Mrs Benson’ Clara introduced. ‘welcome my son, feel at home’… Her phone rang before completing the sentence. She checked the screen and exclaimed. ‘oh my gosh, that is the woman who needs clothes from London.

I have to deliver it now. My son please do feel at home’
she said and before the eyes twinkled, she was gone.

Clara offered Kwadjo Boateng a seat and went to the kitchen. The young man scanned the room and was thrilled. A home he had never seen or felt before. ‘I will build a home like this for my mother before she exit this earth.

I promise’
he said under his breathe.

Clara returned with a tray in her hands.
It contained two chilled glasses of fruit juice.

She served her mate as well as her self.
A few minutes later, jolloff was served by one of the cooks in the house. They both filled their Tommie’s with the delicious food. Kwadjo Boateng understood why Clara had taste for good food. ‘it’s getting late. I have to leave’ Kwadjo Boateng disclosed. ‘don’t worry, my driver and I will drop you at your door step’…

‘my door step!’
he exclaimed. ‘yeah! Any problem?’… ‘you don’t have to worry about dropping me home. I will be fine’… As hard as Clara tried, the young man refused to accept the offer. She escorted him to the junction and picked a taxi for him.
Kwadjo Boateng was very relieved when he got out of Clara’s site. He cursed himself for the thought of proposing to her. They were world’s apart and there was no way the young lady was going to accept him should she found out how poor they are. He decided to bury the feelings he had for her and maintain the friendship.

Clara went home very excited. She felt their house had made a very good impression on the young man and there was no way he wouldn’t propose love to her… It’s getting sweeter by the minute.
