Life At Kakaori - Season 1 - Episode 4

The rest of the week dragged by as i prepared for the trip. A day to the trip i had finished my packing -my camping gears, torch , gloves and some ropes lastly..a knife who knows? We might have to tear something ….

I had decided sparrow wont be coming along and when i told him, he dropped his ears. Sparrow – a German sheperd i found outside my home five years ago he was weak, cold and dying ,i felt pity for him and i took him in and miraculously he survived and since then he became a part of me.

Wow!…it was time afterall. The bus was outside my house already but i couldnt leave the house- my bag is missing!- i was furious and i knew sparrow did it


“sparrow! Where is my bag?” i yelled at him anger but he wouldnt bulge “where is my bag?” this time i couldn’t take it anymore as i kicked him hard in the stomach ,he winced in pain quickly he drew out my bag from under my bed .

I swore i was going to put him down when i returned..

I’ve never hit him for once during these last five years, maybe i was just too angry .

The trip was a sweet one , anna had reserved a seat for me but i wasnt a bit at ease due to the cold stares i got from dan and his gang.

We gisted for a while before she dozed off resting her head on my shoulder.

I thought about sparrow and i got angry more . I was almost dozing when i felt a piece of paper in my hands…

I WILL MAKE SURE YOU REGRET MEETING ANNA …i didnt bother to look around coz i knew exactly who did it.

After about two hours, the bus stopped and phew! We arrived at kakaori.

I felt relieved after the long journey .

Black people waved at us as we made our way down the bus

I so much loved the way we were welcomed – little children danced around us while old women clapped their hands over our heads, young boys beat real fine tunes out of their drums oh it was all exciting .

After a brief word by the village elder about the festival and customs of the land followed by a long rest before we headed to the mountain where we would be camping few days before the festival….
