Davido is not among the top 10 best artistes in Africa 2019 (See Reasons)
Despite dropping his sophomore LP album 'A Good Time' with several hit songs, Davido has failed to make a solid impression in Africa this year.

On 22nd November 2019, 'A Good Time' was the number one trending topic on Nigeria's twitter. 'Animashaun' , 'Big Picture', 'Disturbance' amongst other hot songs off the album where equally on the Nigerian Twitter trends.

'A Good Time’ by Davido broke African album release record. The album reached number one on US pop album chart and also entered into the general US top 10 album chart on ITunes.

The album has also amassed unimaginable numbers on streaming platforms, claiming 14 spots in the top 15 most played songs in Nigeria's apple music.

Nevertheless, CNN believes Davido doesn't deserve a spot as one of the biggest stars in the continent this year.

The list featured Grammy Nominated Burna Boy, MTV Europe Music Award for Best Africa winner Diamond Platnumz, Starboy Entertainment boss Wizkid and others.

See the full list below:

  • 1. Burna Boy
  • 2. Angelique Kidjo
  • 3. Diamond Platnumz
  • 4. Yemi Alade
  • 5. Tiwa Savage
  • 6. Wizkid
  • 7. Mr.Eazi
  • 8. Sho Madjozi
  • 9. Busiswa Gqulu
  • 10. Mwila Musonda.

This is a testament of Davido's failure to leave an imprint in the African music industry this year.

Though Davido's omission from the list has raised several talks, I belief and respect its authenticity. Judging by numbers, Davido definitely deserves a spot on the list. The visuals of his 'Blow My Mind' single featuring American pop star Chris Brown, garnered over 2 million views in less than 24 hours being the first African music video to attain that record.

But judging from the list, CNN could have creates the list with the mindset that life's success isn't all about numbers. They have considered the endorsement deals, awards, impacts and several other factors incoherent in Davido's 2019 achievements.
