Health Workers’ Strike will Endanger Lives Of Patients, Ehanire Warns

Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire has expressed that the industrial action by health workers under the aegis of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) would endanger the lives of patients in hospitals across the country.

He made this remark while speaking yesterday in Abuja during the media briefing by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.

Recall that the union began a seven-day warning strike on Monday after the federal government failed to meet its demands.

Speaking at the media briefing, Ehanire appealed to the striking health workers to return to work to avoid the risks to the lives of citizens, especially as the country us battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Minister expressed that the JOHESU strike was unhelpful coming a few days after the National Association of Resident Doctors called its strike.

He urged the striking union to embrace dialogue rather than embarking on strike.
