‘It’s Pop Music, I Don’t Think This Is Afrobeat’ – Seun Kuti Talks Music On Diddy’s Revolt TV

Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, was recently interviewed on Diddy’s Revolt TV, where he talked about Nigerian music, Black Lives Matters, amongst several other topics.

On all Nigerian sound being tagged afrobeat, Seun had this to say:

‘It’s pop music. I don’t think this is Afrobeat. It doesn’t stand for Afrobeat. It’s not Afrobeat in any way, shape, or form, in terms of composition, in terms of arrangement, in terms of message. It’s pop music.’
