Customs Donates Relief Materials To IDPs In Yola

Alhaji Dikko Abdullahi, the Comptroller General, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), says the service has donated 74 items of relief materials to Internally Displace Persons (IDPs) in Yola.


He spoke during the presentation of the items to Mr Musa Kaibo, the Head of Service in Adamawa on Friday.


Represented by Mr Musa Tahir, a deputy controller, Investigation and Enforcement in the service, Abdullahi said that the service donated the materials to help the IDPs.


“We are here to see them and know how they are doing, now we have come here we have seen them and we feel their pains.


“What we brought is not something that we took from government coffers but voluntary donations from officers and men of NCS.


“We are not just stopping here, we have other things in Abuja that we will take to other IDPs in Yobe and Brono”, he said.


In his response, Kaibo said that the items would help to reduce demand on the government and people of the state for the sustenance of the IDPs.


“We thank the NCS for their kind gesture, we have seen and we have received the items on behalf of government and people of Adamawa”, Kaibo said.


Also responding, Mr Saheh Yusuf, the Head of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Team of the IDPs Camp, said that the team would manage the donation well.


“We have a team that comprises different stakeholders that work along with NEMA to achieve our goal.


“We have the State Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Red Cross and Nigerian Amy, among others, that help in managing the camp”, Yusuf said.


The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the donation comprises bags of rice, vegetable
and palm oil, cloths, towels, toiletries,
educational materials, shoes, plates and spoons, among others. (NAN)
