Kidnapper/armed robber terrorizing Ogoniland ‘arrested’ in Rivers

A notorious kidnapper and armed robber popularly called Spring, who has been terrorising Ogoniland in Rivers state, was on Tuesday morning allegedly arrested by the Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police.
A statement forwarded to DAILY POST on Tuesday morning by the Governor’s spokesman, Simeon Nwaka reports that Spring is currently being interrogated at the Rivers State Police Command headquarters and has made useful confessions on several criminal activities in Ogoniland.

Spring is alleged to be responsible for several killings, kidnappings and armed robbery in Ogoniland. Meanwhile, there are reports that some politicians in the state have stormed the Rivers State Police Command to effect the release of Spring.

“As at press time, several opposition politicians in the state are at the Rivers State Police Command to effect the release of Spring.

“It was gathered that the opposition leaders in Rivers State stormed the Rivers State Police Command in company of a senior police officer from Abuja,” the statement claimed.

But when our correspondent sought confirmation from the state police command, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, DSP Nnamdi Omoni said he is not aware of the arrest of one Spring as being reported.

He told DAILY POST that he is “yet to ?be informed about the arrest of anybody. If such major arrests are made we would have announced it to journalists”.
