RUMOURS: Man Utd target Alaba and Van Dijk as January targets
Bayern will demand a huge fee for the Austrian, but Jose Mourinho is reportedly hopeful that the Old Trafford club will try their best to enhance the defence
Manchester United have made David Alaba their main transfer target in their desire to strengthen their defence in January and are also interested in Southampton's Virgil van Dijk, The Daily Mirror reports.
Alaba, 24, has been a first-team regular for Bayern Munich for six seasons and remains a pivotal player on the left side of defence, while he can also play in midfield.
Jose Mourinho is looking to enhance his defence in the winter transfer window to help boost his side's chances of a top four finish by spending big, as they did in the summer.
Austria international Alaba will be a tough target to land in the upcoming transfer window, but Mourinho hopes the Old Trafford club will give him the support he needs and offer big money for him.
Meanwhile, Van Dijk has continued to impress at Southampton following his move from Celtic, who signed him after emerging as one of the most promising young defenders in the Eredivisie with Groningen.
The Dutchman is expected to cost upwards of£30 million, though, according to the British newspaper.
