Southern Kaduna attacks: NEMA donates more relief materials to victims

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has donated more relief materials to the victims of communities attack in Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Malam Musa Illalah, the North-West Coordinator of NEMA, handed over the materials to the interim chairman of Jama’a Local Government Area in Kafanchan Dr.Begs Katuka, for onward distribution to the victims.

It would be recalled that the people of Godogodo area were attacked on Oct. 15 by suspected herdsmen.

No fewer than 44 people were reported killed.

Another community, Pasakori was also attacked leaving 7 people dead apart from other killings that remain unreported in some Communities.

Illalah said, “The gesture is not compensation for the loss of lives and property, but a token to cushion the effects of the crisis.”

He said that the agency had two weeks ago provided some relief materials to the victims, but needed to do more in view of the people’s demands.

Some of the items include 100 bags of rice, 200 bags of maize, 100 bags of guinea corn, 50 cartons of tomato paste and salt.

Others were 200 bundles of roofing sheets, 100 packs of roofing nails, 500 blankets and clothing.

While receiving the items, Dr. Katuka thanked NEMA for the donation, saying that the agency’s prompt response was an indication that Nigeria has “a caring government.”

He said that with tolerance and peace, there would have been no need for the relief materials.

Katuka told management of the agency that a committee had been set up to ensure that the materials reached the victims.
