The 7th Division of Nigerian Army, yesterday in Abuja said it has captured Chibok town in Borno from the insurgents. This was contained in a statement issued by Col. Sani Usman, the Division’s Deputy Director of Army Public Relations.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the military was still carrying out mopping-up operation on the surrounding environment. The military assured that Chibok has been fully secured.
Recall that the insurgents had stormed the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok on the evening of April 14 and abducted about 276 female students.
However, 57 of them have since escaped.
