Hello, Dolly! Is a very popular 1964 musical written by Jerry Herman.
It was first recorded by Carol Channing, who starred as Dolly Gallagher Levi in the original 1964 Broadway cast.
That same year, American singer, composer and trumpeter Louis Armstrong recorded and released his commercially successful traditional pop jazz version produced by Michael Kapp.
It topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and was later inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001.
So many other artistes have covered the song as well, including Bing Crosby, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Ella Fitzgerald, Mary Martin and Marvin Gaye.
