Portugal honours Cristiano Ronaldo with a statue in his hometown

Real Madridstriker, Cristiano Ronaldo has been honoured with a giant statue erected in his birthplace of Madeira Island,Portugal.
To celebrate the recognition, the former Manchester United striker was present at his home-town of Funchai on the island of Madiera, Portugal to witness the unveiling of the 3.4m statue of himself on Sunday, December 21, 2014.
The statue which is modelled on Ronaldo’s infamous free-kick pose is part of his personal museum, housing mementos and awards from his career including his two Ballon D’Or titles, awarded to him as the World’s Best Player in 2008 and 2013.
