No Corrupt Offender Would Go Unpunished – Osinbajo
All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has said that the issue of corruption will not be treated with kid gloves by their administration if elected in the forthcoming election.
Osinbajo who said this at an interactive session with youths from South West states in Lagos said there would be no sacred cow in its fight against corruption.
According to him, an APC government will address the root causes of corruption, noting that the major drawback of the nation’s system presently is unbridled level of corruption.
Osinbajo said the APC government would begin its anti-corruption crusade from the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

He added, “Stealing of government funds, lack of accountability would not be condoned beginning with the NNPC because it is responsible for our oil proceeds; NNPC must be transparent; every agency must be completely transparent, so that we know what we are earning, and know where the money is going.”
“The reason why people steal government funds today is because there’s no consequence and that will be very clear in an APC government. “We are prepared to enforce the law, especially the law that deals with corruption; offenders won’t go unpunished no matter how highly placed or influential in the country.”
Osinbajo pointed out that the major problem facing the present government is its lack of political will to tackle corruption.
“It’s not the drop in the price of crude oil in the international market; it’s the economy; when you are thinking of the Nigerian problem, you first think of how to solve the corruption problem because it’s our primary problem.
“If you look at our revenues to run governments, to provide electricity and infrastructure, it’s basically on oil; now if our oil and our proceeds from oil are stolen, it means we can’t fix infrastructure; it means we cannot fix our judiciary system”.
