Rotary Club of Ikeja donates furniture to school, inaugurates youth club
As part of efforts aimed at boosting the quality of education in the state, Rotary Club of Ikeja, District 9110 Nigeria has donated 50 sets of classroom furniture to Ikeja Senior High School, Lagos.
Commending the club for its complimentary role in supporting schools in the state, the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Idiat Oluranti Adebule said the area Rotary Club has chosen to support is crucial to enhance effective teaching and learning in the classrooms.
Adebule, who was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mr. Sina Odeyemi said effort and commitment of corporate organisations and all stakeholders would help enhance effective, functional and quality education in Lagos State.
She said: “ I would, therefore, use this forum to urge all stakeholders to consider education as the greatest investment in raising a generation of intellectually-sound, and morally-upright potential leaders.”
She enjoined the students to put the classroom furniture to good use.
The President, Mrs. Olaitan Ojuroye said the motivation behind the gesture was the desire to serve humanity, help communities and lift up the standard of living of people in their communities.
Oluroye said the club is interested in the state education sector and is focused on enhancing education in the district and beyond.
She said the club asked the school what their most pressing needs were and the principal said they wanted furniture.
While also inaugurating the school’s Interact Club, Ojuroye noted that the exercise would further help in instilling values in the youths, adding that the whole idea was to start while “they are young and groom them to be ideal citizens.”
