CONFRONTING MARSHALL }

“What are you doing?” Emma asked.

Ginny gave her a bored look. “Uh, rearranging my desk. Got a problem with that?”

“By moving it towards his space?” She nodded her head in Robert’s direction.

Ginny rolled her eyes, folding her arms over her chest. “I ask again, do you have a problem with that?”

“Girls, calm down,” Robert began but got caught off by Emma.

“I am your senior, Ms. Ginny. Just in case you have forgotten. You should respect me and Detective Robert as well. Your nasty attitude will not be condoned in here.”

Ginny smirked, tilting her head to the side. “Is this the part where you say ‘you better behave or regret not doing so’ bullshit?”

“Excuse me?” Emma was a little bit shocked. She didn’t expect anything less from a spoilt brat like Ginny however, she didn’t expect herself to be this calm. Normally, she would have given her a resounding slap by now but of course, she can’t do anything as stupid as that. Why? Ginny isn’t just anybody but the only daughter of her boss.

“Listen, I know you don’t like me. I don’t like you either so we are even here. But don’t you dare threaten me, do I make myself clear? You work for my father, remember?” She huffed and continued scraping her desk towards Robert’s space.

Emma felt like unleashing her anger on the rude brat at that point. If she remains here, she would definitely do something she might regret later on.

“I need air.” She grabbed the file on the table and stormed out of the office that belonged to her team.

Emma could feel Robert’s eyes on her as she walked away but she didn’t bother to return his stare. She was so angry and funny enough, she wasn’t just furious at Ginny but also at Robert.

Why? That was a question she left unanswered.

Being angry was an understatement as Abby stepped out of ward 302, having one direction in mind as she walked down the hallway.

Why will Marshall do something as stupid as this? Tara is just a kid who needs all the attention and care and not some negative words to make her feel bad for herself. She was already going throu-ghenough. Marshall is a doctor and he should know this. But no, because he wanted to spite her, he decided to hurt a child. An innocent patient. Who the hell does that?

Abby arrived at Marshall’s office, she pushed the door open without even knocking and she didn’t care that she had just interrupted him almost about to make out with a nurse.

They both pulled away from each other and turned to look at her, breathing heavily in fear for being caught about to make out in an office. A hospital office, to be precise.

Abby felt so disgusted. She wasn’t surprised, though. She expected something like this from a man as loose as Marshall. However, she didn’t expect nurse Thelma to let herself be used for someone else’s plea-sure. Or maybe they were in it together. Who knows? Not like Abigail cares. She has something much more important to deal with right now.

Marshall gro-aned at the back of his throat, wiping his li-ps with the back of his hand while taking a step back from Thelma. “What are you doing here?” He asked Abigail, glaring ha-rd at her.

“We need to talk.” She said.

“We have nothing to talk about, young lady. And as you can see,” He gestured at Thelma. “we were about to do something when you barged in here without knocking.”

“Did you just say busy?” Abby scoffed. “Busy doing what, if I may ask?”

“It is none of your business. Get out of my office.” He growled.

“Listen very carefully, Dr. Marshall. What you do in this hospital is none of my business like you said. I don’t give a damn about you or those flocking around you. However, when it comes to Tara. It is my business.”

He pinched his brows together. “Tara? Who the hell is that?”

“The patient in ward 302.”

“Oh. That little girl.” He chuckled. “What did she say I did to her, Dr. Abby? Because I have no idea of what you are talking about.”

Abigail stepped close to him, staring de-eply into his eyes. She was tempted to drive her fingers into them and blind him. But she can’t do that. She will end up in jail if she does and the bastard is not worth her going to jail for.

“You are trying to play dumb with me, because I’m sure as hell know that you know what I’m talking about.” She stated.

He laughed and shrugged his shoulders. “Maybe I do. Or maybe I don’t.”

“Excuse me. I will leave you guys to discuss privately.” Thelma muttered, grabbing their attention. She stood up to her feet and hurried out of the office, ignoring both of them stares.

“Ugh.” Marshall tugged at his hair in fury. “You see what you’ve caused. I was about to have my fun but you just have to ruin it. You always ruin things for me.”

Abby rolled her eyes. “Whatever.”

“You know what? I think I should stop with this pretense and say it to your face.” He took a step forward, closing the distance between them. “I told ward 302 everything she needs to know about you.”

“What are you talking about?”

“What am I talking about?” He repeated with a smirk playing at the side of his li-ps. “The truth. You don’t care about her. You and I both know that you, Dr. Abby never cares about anyone. Not a single patient in this hospital. You are just a sick psycho who is trying to paint herself white when you are darker than darkness itself. You think I don’t know you? You think I am one of those people you can easily fool? Well, think again.” He said.

“First of all, you don’t know shit about me. Secondly, I care about every patient in this hospital. Before I became a doctor, I swore to always put them first before anything else. And lastly, you got only one thing right there, though.” She stepped closer to him, standing just a few miles away from him. “I am a sick psycho. And I swear, I will kill you if you hurt Tara one more time again.”

“Is this right?”

“What?”

“You are threatening me, Dr. Abby. So answer me, is it right?”

Abigail swallowed nothing as anger flashed in her eyes.

“You are a shameless animal. You think you are crazy?” She laughed, shaking her head. “It seems like you are taking my quietness for foolishness. Go anywhere close to Tara or should I say ward 302 so you wouldn’t get confused. Try it and see how crazy I can be. You really don’t know me, Dr. Marshall because if you do,” She scoffed. “you won’t dare to say shit in front of me, I swear.”

Marshall had a look of fear on his face as soon as she said those words but it varnished just as it came and he straightened himself up, refusing to get intimidated by a petite woman like Dr. Abby or let her words get into him.

“I am ward 302 personal doctor. And I have every goddamn right to go close to her but the one who doesn’t is,” He looked her from head to toe. “you.”

Abigail balled her fist, her face were hardened in anger. He was damn right about that. He had every right to Tara but she on the other hand doesn’t have that right anymore. He could even ask her not to go close to ward 302 and she will have no choice than to obey.

Marshall started laughing when he saw the expression on her face. She knew better than to challenge him when it comes to ward 302.

“You can’t talk again?” He smirked.

“Stop telling Tara trash about me. She is a child who needs all the positivity in this world. You can’t say things to make her feel sad or unwanted, Dr. Marshall.” She said.

“Is that so? As I said, I only told her the truth about her favorite Dr. Abby. I did nothing wrong.” He simply shrugged.

“You don’t even feel remorseful.” She noted.

“Remorseful about what exactly?” He raised a questioning brow at her. “You know what,” He paused. “I think it is time you stop going to ward 302. She is now my responsibility and not yours.”

“No, you can’t do that.”

“I can and I already did.”

The door opened and Sandra walked in.

Her face dropped when she saw Abby in Marshall’s office.

“What is going on here?” She asked no one in particular but her eyes were still on Abigail.

“Oh, Dr. Abby came by to have a chat with me.” Marshall answered while grinning.

“A chat?” Sandra repeated, glancing over at him.

“Yes. About ward 302. Can you imagine, she asked me to stay away from the little girl.”

Sandra chuckled. “What?”

They both started laughing, making Abby who was still in the office look stupid.

“What the hell?” Sandra took in a de-ep breath as she stopped laughing, turning to face Abigail. “You can’t be serious, can you?”

“Mind your business.” Abby spat in anger.

“Just as you should mind your business.” Marshall said. “Stay away from ward 302 henceforth, unless you want to get suspended from work this time around. Trust me, I know the right words to say to end your doctor career. Don’t you dare me.”

“Are you threatening me, Dr. Marshall?”

He rolled his eyes. “Think what you want, honey. I don’t bloody care.”

Abby’s blood boil to an hundred degree as she saw the amusement look on his and Sandra’s faces. They were making a joke out of her.

“Are you not done talking?” Sandra smirked, sitting down on the desk. “Or do you have something else to say?”

Abby turned around and walked towards the door but didn’t open it like they had expected her to. Instead, she turned her gaze back to them, a ghost smile on her li-ps. “Here is an advice for you, Dr. Marshall. Next time you want to make out with a nurse or fuc-k them, lock the door. I don’t want you damaging the reputation of this wonderful hospital.” She winked and left the office.

The smile on Sandra’s face faded away immediately. She pinched her brows together, getting off the desk. “What is she talking about?”

“Don’t listen to the bit-ch , babe. She is trying to get in between the both of us. We can’t give her that

satisfaction.” He stated.

Sandra studied him from head to toe. His li-ps were swollen, his hair was in a complete mess. His trousers belt is unbuckled and a few of his shirt buttons were undone. He really do look like one who was about to make out or already made out with someone.

“You are denying it looking like that? Do I look stupid to you? Answer me!”

“Sandra_”

“Who is she?” She cut him off. “Who is the wh*re you are cheating on me with?”

“Babe,” Marshall reached out to hold her hand and fortunately, she didn’t pull away. “I’m sorry. I didn’t even know what I was doing or what came over me, I swear. You know how much I love you, right? I won’t do anything to hurt you, my love. Believe me.” He cupped her cheek and pressed a soft kis-s on her forehead. “I’m sorry.”

“You can’t hurt me like this, Marshall. You promised to love me and me alone, remember?”

“Actually,” He smirked as he pulled away from her and went to sit down. “I didn’t promise to love you alone, honey.”

“Excuse me?”

“I promised to love you and your son as well.”

“Oh, my gosh.” She gushed and went to straddle him on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. “I love you too.” She started peppering his face with her hot kis-ses.

“I love you too. However, something is bothering me.” He said.

Sandra stopped what she was doing to look at his face, looking a little bit confused. “What is bothering you?”

He sighed. “Dr. Abby. She threatened to kill me if I hurt the little girl again.”

Sandra laughed. “Are you for real right now? Why are you bothered about that?”

“I don’t know. That girl can be intimidating and scary sometimes, you know.”

“Oh, come on. How many times do I have to tell you that she is all bark and no more. What could she possibly do, huh? And besides,” She started grinding herself against him. “you have absolutely nothing to worry about when you have me by your side.” She ran her w-et tongue over his earlobe, earning a low gro-an from him. “You don’t know what I am capable of doing to protect those things that matters to me.”
