Laura was a beauty. She was chubby, with a very innocent face.

She had this aura about her that made you definitely notice her.

And then, there’s her smile. Oh her smile makes you want to
pluck out the stars from the heavens and hand them over to her.

I was working on a very tight schedule. Cynthia was due back in
office in two weeks and that was the length of time I had to lay
Laura. Eddy had more money and had more experience, may be
because of his age. But I had more swag,was more handsome
and would be available to her more than Eddy would be.

The first week went by excruciatingly fast. There were no real
incidences. I occasionally popped into her office to help her sort
out issues with her computer. We engaged in small talk, but
really nothing serious. I was beginning to lose hope. On Friday
that same week, I was in the Kitchen with Eddy as usual having
lunch. After talking for a while we came across the subject of
Laura.

“So how is the hunt going for you, games master?” I teased Eddy
while munching a large chunk of “kpomo”.

“The hunt is proving to be time consuming and not encouraging.

I am thinking I should find another prey.” Eddy said.

“Why back off now? It’s too early na.

Besides, you know she has
to settle down first. Don’t be in a hurry Boss.

You would chop her till you want no more.” I replied.

“See who is talking,” Eddy said and continued “You have used
your cute face to capture her abi?”
“Ed, you should know me better than anyone.

I have not gotten
any headway yet.” I said.

“A phone call for you sir.” Anna the Kitchen Attendant interrupted
our discussion.

“For me? Who is it?” I asked
“She said she was calling from Corporate Affairs. I didn’t ask a
name.” Anna replied.

“Alright. Thanks.” I said.

“Wetin happen? Who dey find you” Eddy asked
“CA. I never know who. Maybe person don type A,B,C and she no
fit see the C again so she want make I con help her find am.” I
joked.

Eddy laughed and almost spilled his drink. I got up and went to
the phone.

“Hello. This is Kevin. Good Afternoon” I said into the receiver.

“Hi. Kevin. Please can you come to Corporate Affairs? I need you
like yesterday.” A soft female voice said.
I tried to place the voice in my head. I was trying but I could not
get a match.

“Are you there?” the voice said jerking me away from my
thoughts.

“Yes I am. I am having lunch now. When I am done I will rush
up.” I said.

“Thanks a lot. Please hurry.” She said.

“No problems. Who am I speaking with please?” I asked.

A soft giggle came from the other end of the line.

“It is Laura. Web Content Manager.” She said.

“Oh, ok. I will be there very soon.” I said
“Thank you.” Laura answered. And I heard her drop the receiver.

I walked to Eddy with a frown on my face but deep inside I knew
that I was very excited.

“Who be that?” He asked
“Corporate Affairs Manager. She just like to dey gimme wahala” I
lied.

Eddy didn’t seem to believe me. Maybe my face told a lie and my
mouth told another.

“Why you dey look me like that na?” I asked smiling and hitting
his arm.

“You know say I no trust you. But anyway sha, nothing spoil.”

He said.

I hurried my remaining “kpomo” and got out of the Kitchen in five
minutes.

I got to the front of Laura’s door, adjusted my blazers, admired
myself a little on her glass panel and opened the door
