Must Read: Confessions Of A Randy Houseboy

True enough at home Etim is writhing on the ground in mortal
pain. He is clutching his stomach and and groaning. We have no
choice but to rush him to the hospital. Even as I run into the
hospital screaming ”emergency!” I am wondering to myself if I
would survive all these. The nurses wheel him away for
diagnostics and I and madam wait in the reception
apprehensively.

After an hour the Doctor comes out and addresses us,
”I have carried out a careful analysis it is appendicitis. We have
to operate right away if he is to have any chance of survival but
before I cut him you must deposit 50k”. Without another word
and with a wicked gleam in her eyes madam opens her handbag
and hands 50k to the greedy doctor, who dissappears into the
theatre to cut up poor Etim with a smirk. Madam smiles at me
and whisphers,
”It appears providence is on our side. ”
I am between a rock and a hard place. I know appendicitis is not
Etims problem. The Doctor is more interested in carrying out the
appendoctomy and pocketing his deposit. This is a magnificient
stroke of goodluck, but despite all these I am sad and afraid for
Etim. I cant believe what I have gotten myself into. Etim is
afterall still my brother. It is madam the witch that has gotten me
into all this troubles! I steal a glance at her , she is calmly
playing a game on her phone.


They seem to have started trhe operation. After NEPA strikes and
the hospital is plunnged into darkness. The doctor open the
theatre door and bellows ,
”Shuaibu! On the Gen!” For a long moment there is no reply and
then Shuaibu’s disembodied repy floats into the waiting room,
”Oga no diesel o”.


”No diesel! Screams the doctor, I gave you money to buy 50
litres 2 days ago!

There is a long pause before Shuaibu’s belated reply floats back
to us,
”Oga they don use am watch match o”.


”God!” Gasps the Doctor, ”How do I operate in the dark!?! And I
have cut him open”
I watch in lethargic horror as they run to and fro with torch,
lantern and candles,
After an hour the doctor comes out looking dissipated and simply
says,
”We lost him.”
