Colors of the heart - Season 1 - Episode 14

Skye

Violet signified the nostalgic feelings that was buried inside me. I was homesick, I missed Cherry, I missed my father, I missed the gang. My mistakes prevented me from going home. I had a good life with Ben, why destroy it by going back to my past life that was in ruins?

Skye was nervous over Olivia’s coming, for five months she hadn’t seen anyone from Lagos. She knew Olivia was close to her family which was why it freaked her the most, she hoped Olivia knew nothing about what had happened.

“When was the last time you spoke with Olivia?” Ben asked that morning right before he left for work.

“We talk a lot…..why, did she say anything?” Skye asked as she wrapped up the painting.

Ben shook his head “Why are you so jumpy?” Ben asked.

“I’m not…I’m fine… Go to work. Where are you going to today?” Skye asked. Ben eyed her critically before picking up his bag.
“I love you Skye, I don’t know what you’re hiding. I don’t know why it’s so bad that you can’t tell me but know that it doesn’t matter to me” Ben said.
Skye faked a smile “Seriously, you worry too much. Go to work already, you’re becoming a bother” she said playfully.
“Ahhh…I see. Okay, have a lovely day” Ben said before walking out of the room.
Skye eyed the painting, what was she to do. Bury the past, or try to fix it. What difference would it make anyway?

“Why are we meeting at Louisa’s place again?” Teddy asked taking off his tie as Melvin unfastened his seatbelt.
“I don’t know Cherry mentioned something about dinner, I assumed she was making dinner for the gang” Melvin said.
“Who is making dinner, Louisa or Cherry?” Teddy asked.

“I don’t know, why are you asking?” Melvin said opening the car door.
Teddy scoffed “Louisa can’t cook shït, she almost burned her house the other day all in the name of fried plantains” Teddy said.
Melvin chuckled as they got out of the car. They headed to the front door and rang the bell.

Cherry answered the door in seconds, her attention fell to Teddy. “I didn’t ask you to come with Teddy, Louisa’s boyfriend is here” Cherry said wide-eyed as she let them in.

“Boyfriend?! I thought you said dinner. I assumed you meant the gang” Melvin said and turned to Teddy.

Teddy’s eyes were fastened on the man standing in the middle of the living room. He was wearing a white T-shirt and camouflage pants.

“Isn’t that Shola Omotayo?” Teddy squinted.

“Yes, that’s Louisa’s new man. Do you know him?” Cherry asked as they walked into the living room to join Louisa and Shola. Louisa was sitting on the sofa fiddling with her fingers while Shola was at the other of the living room rooted deep in a call that he didn’t hear them come in.

“New man as in Louisa is dating Shola Omotayo?” Teddy asked surprised.
Louisa’s ears perked up at the familiar voice, she turned to the trio and gasped when she saw Teddy.

She went over to him immediately “Get out of my house now!” she whisper yelled at Teddy.

Teddy held up his hand. “Excuse me” he said moving towards Shola who was still deep in the phone conversation . Teddy cleared his throat attracting Shola’s attention.

Louisa left Cherry’s side and rushed over to the duo in panic. “Shola this is Teddy my friend , Teddy this is Shola my boyfriend” Louisa said immediately.

“We’ve met” Shola said in his velvety voice. He smiled a little but Teddy didn’t smile back.

“Louisa is my ex girlfriend, I don’t know what you were thinking or planning to do but she’s off limits” Teddy said glaring hard at Shola.

Shola turned to Louisa “I wasn’t aware, I’m sorry” He said.

Louisa glared at Teddy “Shola don’t listen to him, he’s crazy. We dated eons ago” Louisa said quickly.

“Shola here is playing for the other team, we met last year at some Christmas party. He actually made a move on me, I turned him down but we’ve been friends ever since. We will not speak of this again Louisa, say goodbye to your ex” Teddy said sternly.
Louisa gasped “What?” she turned to Shola. No wonder he was so perfect, it was almost hard to believe. “Oh my God” Melvin and Cherry came forward.

“You’re actually…” Cherry started when Shola cut her off. “I’ll take my leave now, I’m sorry Louisa. You’re a very pretty woman, organized and popular. You’re the kind of woman my mother wants for a daughter in law, I thought you’d make a good trophy wife. I was going to tell you on the long run” Shola said.

“Ohhhh….oh my God…I thought you loved me. I thought you were the one, you deceived me” Louisa said.

“I genuinely like you Louisa but let’s not fool ourselves….you weren’t in love with me either” Shola asked and turned to Teddy. “I’ll see you around buddy” he said and headed towards the front door.

Melvin turned to Cherry “I need a moment to process this….it’s not everyday you witness a soap opera live” Melvin chuckled.

Louisa glared at him “It’s not funny, Teddy came with his bad luck as usual and ruined everything. Why the hell did you invite him?” Louisa asked almost near to tears.

“Are you kidding me, I just helped you out. He wouldn’t have made you happy, he wouldn’t have loved you” Teddy defended himself.

“I don’t need you to help me!” Louisa screamed at him.
Melvin nudged Cherry, it was their cue to get out of the room right before the screaming match. Cherry took his hand and led him to the guest room.

“Just leave me alone, you have done enough already. Aren’t you done ruining my life?” Louisa screamed at him.
“I didn’t ruin your life” Teddy said calmly.
“Really, you left years ago without telling me. Right after I poured out my heart to you, you’re a stupid jerk. I hate you!” Louisa said wiping away the angry tears on her face.
“I left because your father and your mother lied to me” Teddy said coldly.

Louisa stopped and eyed him in confusion “What are you talking about?” Louisa asked .

“Use your head Louisa, you told your parents about us. I was freaking poor, do you think they would have wanted me for their daughter?” Teddy asked.

“But your father….” Louisa started. Teddy cut her off angrily “Yes he’s rich, but he’s a bastärd. He abandoned my mother and I” Teddy said furiously.

Louisa shook her head “You didn’t tell me” Louisa said calmly.

“Who do you think processed my visa and flight to South Africa, who do you think paid for my education over there?” Teddy asked.

“My parents?” Louisa asked slowly.
“Yes, your father. He told me you were going to join me, that he was processing everything for you. He told me he was going to surprise you, he fücking lied to me and deceived me. Told me lies to get me out of your life” Teddy said.

Louisa gasped “Oh my God…he wasn’t lying” Louisa said.

“Then why didn’t you come, why did he tell me afterwards that you weren’t interested?” Teddy asked.
“He didn’t tell me that you were waiting for me in South Africa, he said he’d made plans for me to leave Nigeria to study marine biology. How was I supposed to know that he’d already made plans with you. I turned him down, we argued about it for a while but I was defiant and didn’t change my mind. My mum….that witch. For the first time in my life, she supported my decisions. I should have known something was wrong when she told me to follow my heart and move out of the house” Louisa said.

“Your mother is the greatest thorn in my side. I owe your family a heck load of money, it’s not just my business Louisa. Your father partnered with me when I told him about my business plans, when he died he left everything to your mother. Initially she had just thirty percent of the shares in the company like me, the one she’d acquired from your father. Then she secretly began buying shares, I didn’t notice on time. She fücking outsmarted me. When I found out, it was too late. She threatened me, told me if I ever made a move to get you back, she’d ruin everything I’d worked hard for. She doesn’t care about me or my company but I do. I love you Louisa but some things are too great to sacrifice for Love. I can’t be with you…” Teddy explained watching Louisa’s expressionless face.

“You should have told me, you should have said something” Louisa said.
“There was no point, I shouldn’t have told you. This was a mistake” Teddy said.
“You should have told me sooner, for the love of God Teddy. I’m his only biological child, who do you think he left everything to? I had no interest in business at first but when he died, I decided to take it seriously. So I handed the reins over to my mom temporarily, till I got my business and management degree. I’ve been schooling online you idiot” Louisa groaned.
“What?” Teddy said disoriented. “The witch is running my business temporarily, I’m the boss. If I were you, I’d start making it up to me because trust me I can be worse than my mother” Louisa said.

“I saw your father’s…..” Teddy was saying when Louisa cut him off. “You saw what she wanted you to see, you’re so dumb Theodore. I can’t believe you let her play you like that” Louisa said laughing.
Teddy narrowed his eyes at her. “Louisa this is not funny, my business is worth millions. Are you fücking with me?” he asked.
“Teddy, of course I’m fücking serious” Louisa frowned.

“I can’t believe she played me” Teddy said.

“No, we played ourselves. I should have contacted you, you should have spoken to me. I should have known my mother was somehow involved, she never liked you and she always wanted you out of my life. She likes playing God over my life, that’s why we never see eye to eye.” Louisa mentally face palmed herself.

Teddy sighed and held her by the shoulder. “It’s over, we’re going to take over our lives ourselves now. No more lies, no more secrets, no more games” Teddy said.

“No more women asides me!” Louisa frowned. “I didn’t love any of them, they were distractions. I was trying to forget you, do you know how hard it is to look at you without wanting you?” Teddy said.
“I know….I felt that way too. God, I love you so much Teddy” Louisa cupped his face.
“I never stopped loving you” Teddy responded.

Cherry turned to Melvin behind the door and smiled. “Are they s------g in the living room, they do know we can hear them right?” Cherry chuckled.

“It’s about time. Teddy and Louisa were losing their minds already. Can’t believe he never told me” Melvin said.
“Yeah, I guess he knew you’d tell me because you don’t keep anything from me and I wouldn’t have been able to keep it from Louisa. He isn’t exactly stupid you know” Cherry said.

“Oh he is, he’s stupid in love” Melvin said.
Cherry grinned. The night had started out terribly but somehow it had ended right. She was glad Shola and Teddy had met tonight, that had been the last straw for Teddy.
Everything was falling into place now….not everything. She remembered Skye and turned to Melvin. “We need to talk” she said with a sigh.
